Hello Friday....

Friday, January 28

Hello Friday, indeed! This Sunday is the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and I can't believe I will be at the Shrine Expo Hall helping with publicity during the show. My outfit is ready -- I opted for a classic black suit -- and will get my hair cut this morning. Will be working non-stop till the show is over, but that. is. fine. with. me. Hopefully, I'll be able to share photos next week. Here are the nominees for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. Which film (The King's Speech, Black Swan, The Social Network, The Fighter and The Kids Are All Right) do you think will win The Actor?

Etsy love (IX) ....

Tuesday, January 25

Journals, typewriter key bookmarks, and Alice in Wonderland illustrations on antique book pages make up this week's Etsy love. I love journals, especially leather bound ones, so I was happy to find Karleigh Jae. Her journals are custom handmade and created out of lambskin scraps, pieces, hides and strips. I was also glad to find these very pretty vegan journals by Moxy. The covers are faux suede and lined with brown Eco-fi Felt, a polyester fiber made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled plastic bottles.

Other faves of the week: The grammyshop sells authentic typewriter keys made into bookmarks, necklaces, bracelets and keychains, while the Black Baroque sells beautiful illustrations of Alice, the Rabbit and the Mad Hatter on book pages from the late 1800s. So perfect....

Deanna Staffo ....

Monday, January 24

How fun are these illustrations created by Deanna Staffo? I love her, "What I Wore Today" series, and the rest of her work is pretty amazing. My Monday morning has become infinitely better after looking at these fantastic works of art from her portfolio. Here's Deanna's blog.

Dress me ....

Friday, January 21

So, in my other life -- when I'm not blogging -- I'm a publicity intern at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. It's been an incredible experience, and I'm sad it's soon going to end after the show airs live coast-to-coast on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 30 in Los Angeles. It's my first awards show, so I want to make sure I not only look fantastic (obviously), but am also comfortable throughout the day and night.

My options: I can either wear a black suit or a black dress. My girly side wants the cocktail dress and the high glittery heels, but my practical self wants the suit paired with a nice peep-toe wedge because later, I can get more use out of it, i.e. job interviews, events, etc. With the show being only nine days away, I need to make my decision ASAP and head to Bloomingdales this weekend.

I'm inspired by this: A classic YSL suit....

Ahhh, Ruche....

Thursday, January 20

A little bit vintage, a little bit modern. Ruche is a pretty online boutique that belongs to SoCal couple Mai and Josh Olivo. The two are inspired by design, fashion, lifestyle and photography, and all of that is definitely reflected on the site, which I visit....often.

Just this week the boutique released its Style Resolutions look book, featuring outfits in: Life in Colors, feminine flair, mix & match, neutral palette and tailor-made. All were beautifully styled to be chic, fun and flirty. I love that each piece is perfectly timeless and affordable. Go ahead and check Ruche out! Enjoy....

Etsy love (VIII) ....

Tuesday, January 18

Happy Tuesday! Looking back at past Etsy love posts, it's easy to see that I am a fan of anything made out of earth-friendly or vintage materials.

enhabiten
So, I pretty much covet everything at enhabiten. I found enhabiten when I was reading Etsy's blog series, "Saved From the Fire. " Liane, enhabiten's shop owner, wrote a lovely piece for the feature. Browsing her shop, I fell in love with her pillows. My favorites are the ones covered with lace or a piece of crochet.

tinahdee
While I want to cover my bed with enhabiten pillows, I want to adorn my fingers with tinahdee's stackable rings. I'm amazed at the intricate details found on each gold, silver, copper and bronze ring.

jerseymaids
I have a soft spot for polaroids. That's why I had to include jerseymaids, which celebrates the instant camera. Every destination photographed looks so magical, and if you wish, you can either admire it on your wall or on your finger inside a vintage filigree ring.

hundred acre

Finally, Hundred acre is in the mix because this shop specializes in custom-made furniture and functional art crafted from salvaged materials. I love the antique wood bin drawers with salvaged brass bin pulls. I can store a lot of stuff in that baby.

Although Valentine's Day is a few weeks away, I thought I'd share this beautiful blog I found on Sunday. Le Love is dedicated to -- you guessed it -- love. Made entirely out of reader submissions, Le Love has its fair share of heartbreakingly sad entries. But among stories of loss and regrets are notes brimming with hope, of moving on, and finding love. Get comfy and check out the stories written by Le Love's very brave readers.
