Good causes....

....tied to fashion is always a good thing. That's why it does my heart good when I buy beautiful hand-crafted items knowing it will help the environment and provide economic opportunities for women and their families in impoverished countries. I found a few non-profit organizations that are doing what they can to make the world a better place. Perhaps you can add a few baubles from these sites to your holiday wish list?

United By Blue (UBB) sells sustainable apparel and accessories. For every item sold, the organization removes one pound of trash from the world's oceans and waterways.

fashionABLE creates sustainable business for women in Africa via scarves. The non-profit works with women who have been exploited because of poverty.

Global Good Partners is dedicated to building sustainable livelihoods for women in marginalized regions of Asia, Africa, the Americas and the Middle East. The two bracelets featured are from India handcrafted by women.

BeadforLife has partnered with Ugandan women to turn colorful recycled paper into beads to make necklaces, bracelets and earrings. The money from the beads help pay for food and medicine, and provide entrepreneurial training, facilitate savings accounts and make business funds available for Ugandan women.

Artist Marissa Perry founded Dsenyo after living and working in Malawi. The non-profit's mission is to empower a generation of African women and artisans through hand-crafted bags and accessories. Along with creating jobs, Dsenyo donates a portion of sales to community development projects in Malawi.
