Edible gardens ....

Monday, December 19

This weekend, I found the tumblr for Edible Gardens LA. This incredible group builds, plants and sustains organic vegetable gardens, while Lauri (the founder) teaches gardening at local schools. She also helps chefs and families grow organic vegetables at home. Her message is simple: "7 billion people are now living on earth. Megacities are expanding to accommodate growing populations. Farmland is dwindling. How will we feed ourselves in the years to come? Home gardens. Community gardens. School gardens. More important than ever before."

  1. Beautiful photos, it's true we are all more and more moving towards real products, garden vegetables and fruits. We all start to understand our health is important and we should look after ourselves well.

  2. My children have are lucky enough to attend one of the schools where Lauri teaches. The kids love her and come home with a wealth of knowledge. I've also been fortunate enough to hire her to do my edible garden. She is not only brilliant in the garden, she is a wonderful kind person...and embodies all that wholesomeness that we all aspire to!

  4. I am one of Lauri's biggest fans. I teach at Westland school where Lauri works with children ages 5 to 12. She has not only created amazing gardens, she has introduced all these children to the joys of working in and appreciating their edible garden. Lauri is an absolute pleasure to know and work with. She is a true gift.

  6. I love Lauri. She created an entire edible garden for us at home. Not only did she transform the landscape of our home, our kids love her and wait with baited breath on the days she comes over to help us tend to it. She is serious about what she does but makes it all seem so laid back, fun and easy.
