Dream home ....

Tuesday, May 3

I've loved Moby's music for a loonnngg time. So, I thought it was pretty cool that his Hollywood Hills home was recently featured in the Times. I didn't peg him as the type of guy who would live in a castle that has to-die-for views of the Hollywood Reservoir and the Hollywood sign. Apparently he is.

The castle was built in the 1920s and is on three acres. Moby bought the dwelling last year for under $4 million and spent an additional $2 million to restore the home. He preserved the wood-beamed ceiling, replaced the original floors that were painted black, and gutted the old kitchen. He then furnished the home with midcentury modern pieces, which I love.

Before: The original walls were painted dark gray and the wall above the gothic fireplace was covered with shells. Thank goodness that's all gone.
